The universe is made of stories, not of atoms.
The Surdna Foundation suggests, “Art can be fundamental to our collective understanding of who we are, what we believe, and how we relate to each other and our surroundings. Artists can weave the cultural fabric necessary for a sustainable, vibrant society. The development and sharing of artists' work contributes to the strengthening of communities—culturally, socially, and economically” (Surdna Foundation, 2016). Art can impact change. With this in mind, the short term vision of this proposal is to develop a pilot project to create a public platform aimed at generating insight, compassion and critical dialogue around the common threads that connect our humanity through the building of intentional relationships allowing for the catching, adaptation and release of stories, through digital storytelling and visual art, about how we move through the world in our bodies. And will also include the goal of seeking funding allowing for the long term development and growth of the pilot project into a sustainable program providing opportunities for education, personal growth and community development contributing to a more vibrant and accepting society.
